SENSEI JOHN ANDERSON IPPON KARATE
Having been taught to never qualify an adjective and ever since practically ignored the
rule, I am ABSOLUTELY delighted to announce that Mr Stanhope, our Association
Chairman has conferred the RANK OF 6TH DAN ON SENSEI JOHN ANDERSON. I
can truthfully say that I have never been so pleased to hear of an Award as I was to be told
of this one. I have only had a couple of conversations with John, but I immediately felt
great respect for him and his ethos towards Martial Arts in general, plus his attitude to life
in view of the difficulties he has been facing. He is determined and resolute in all he
undergoes and is the epitome of the Martial spirit. Having conversed with many of his
colleagues at Ippon Karate and many others of our Association members in Scotland, I
know of the immense regard they have for John, not only as an Instructor, but very
importantly as a friend. I have had the pleasure to include reports of his Seminars in the
Newsletters, and all the information inputted was received from the Senior Instructors
from the various clubs who were represented at these events, all anxious to put across their
viewpoints of the proceedings which without exception were par excellence. John has only
one level in his approach to the Karate he teaches and trains in, that level being the
highest, and this is the standard he expects of others. I have a shrewd feeling that when
John reads this narrative he will probably say ‘what a load of tosh’; that shows other facets
of his character, humble and self-effacing, oh, he also has a very keen sense of humour. I
am certain that everyone who knows John will be overjoyed to hear of his award, so on
behalf of us all may I say JOHN:
